A letter to my daughter Ellie as she approaches her teen years

You may remember around this time last year I wrote a letter to Harry as he approached his teen years, well crazily it’s already time to write one for Ellie. So Ellie this time it’s for you!

Dear my beautiful Jel

I can’t believe how fast it has come round to the time to write your letter, I’m not ready! Can you not just stay my little girl for a tiny bit longer? I guess now is the time I share my mummy words of wisdom with you as you transform from a child into a young lady.

You are incredibly beautiful and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise

As you make your way through life people are going to do their very best to put you down. Unfortunately throughout life not everybody is going to like you. Some people will be jealous of you and that isn’t surprising, you are extremely intelligent and very beautiful. Not only that but you have something many people lack , integrity. I am so proud of the way you handle yourself in difficult situations and how you keep yourself at a mutual level, refusing to take sides. I truly hope that you keep this about you as you grow older.

There will be times where you will doubt yourself and who you are. This is all part of growing up. You will learn about yourself and the kind of person you would like to be. What is most important is that you remain true to yourself. If people don’t like you then the problem lies with them and not you.

Hormones are on their way and they actually suck

I am not going to lie hormones actually suck, they made you moody, spotty, sulky. They give you aches and pains and will turn you into a raging monster at times.  Just remember that when you’re screaming ” I hate you” at the top of your voice and slamming your door that I was a grumpy , miserable hormonal teenage girl once too and my voice is louder than yours 😉 Oh and don’t think that I don’t know that you’re sticking your fingers up behind your door either!

Boys smell!

Boys smell, you are banned from boys until you are at least 45 , they smell, they’re ugly and you don’t need them .. got that?

No seriously , If and when you are ready to get a boyfriend I want you to remember that you are in control of what and when you are ready to do anything, from holding hands to anything else. You are able to say no to absolutely anything you want to and if you need a helpful ear I will be right there ready to listen ( and to be nosey)  but please don’t ever put a boy before making sure that you concentrate on getting a good education and career. If they’re worth it and they’re worth your time they will be happy to put what you need first and wait for you to do what you need to do.

I am so proud of you

You are growing into such an incredible , strong , well-mannered , beautiful young lady. The other day when you wrote your Mother’s day message to me you described me as your best friend and I genuinely mean this when I say, those words meant the world to me. I will be more than happy if in a few years time you are still saying it.

You’re about to go through some pretty big changes both in body and mind and I would be lying if I said it was going to be easy because it isn’t but I am very confident that you will handle it the way you handle everything with complete dignity.

I want you to promise me that if you find yourself in any situations that you feel you can’t handle you will come to me and you will talk to me about them. As you get older you will meet some people and situations that maybe you never thought you would come across.

You will be offered things and tempted with things that may seem like a fantastic or cool idea at the time but I can assure you that 99% of the time the idea will be pretty stupid.

I can also tell you there isn’t much this old mum hasn’t seen or done herself so this means there isn’t very much that you will be able to get passed me!

I know you aren’t overly happy about the fact you have to grow up, you’ve already asked me if we can stop it and my god I wish we could. It only seems like yesterday you were my naughty little toddler who was driving me insane, kicking and punching me but despite how sad I am that you’re growing up I’m equally excited to see what you do with your life. What you will become and what you will achieve.

I have absolutely no doubt that you have big things in store for you if you continue the way you are going.

I love you my princess Jel

Parents evening – Proud Mummy Moment

Tonight was one of those love to hate Mummy moments, It was Ellie’s parents evening. Now the reason I say love to hate is because I love the fact that I get to go and speak to all of the teachers, find out how my children are progressing and get feedback on anything that I can do to help them. Ellie’s Thumb Operation – The saga continues

I told you all about Ellie and her crazy thumb the other day and the fact that we were waiting to see a surgeon. We’ve now seen the surgeon and Ellie has had an operation so I thought I should probably update everyone and tell you about experience with the crazy thumb!

What on earth has she done to her thumb! (Look away if you are squeamish)

Ok so as you all know I’m going through a little bit of a rough time at the moment so you can possibly imagine how thrilled I was when Ellie walked in from school last Friday and asked me if her thumb was normal. She then presented me with what can only be described as a deformity in her thumb to which I replied “Oh my god , how on earth have you done that? ”

The Kids Take Over – Ellie-Jayne – Week 5

Each week I am handing over my blog to the kids to have their say and let you know whats going on with them. I have told them they can be completely honest and if I have annoyed them or if something has upset them then to just go for it and type how they feel. I figured this way you guys can get to know their personalities and more about who they are as each one of them is completely different.

Ellie week 5

Hey Guys!!
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. This week has been super busy and we’ve done loads.

Well the first thing is that recently we have been going swimming. Annabelle at the beginning was so scared of the water to the point of screaming and just today she managed to walk around without holding onto anything. Also I wasn’t very good when we first started going and couldn’t swim but I managed to swim a whole width. My next aim is to do a length. Mum said if I manage it that she will treat me so I’ve got to try.

It was also Annabelle’s birthday this week and she got massively spoilt. I gave her a handmade art book out of my paper in my art book and made little tasks for her to do to help her. She really enjoyed completing it and playing with her toys.

Not long ago we went to our Uncle and Aunties house. We had so much fun and did so much including visiting a water park and the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton. Which I found extremely interesting and educational. ( I’m a bit of a dweeb so love stuff like that)

I’ve had my phone taken off me until I clean my bedroom so I think tomorrow that is what I am going to spend my day doing although Mum has planned an afternoon of healthy drinks, Face masks and general pampering so I might just have to wait until Sunday 😉

That’s all from me for now

See ya

Jel

Ellie week 2

Hello again people!

I’ve done quite a lot this week. First of all I went to Clubbercise and it was EXTREMELY hot. I like going to Clubbercise it disguises that you’re doing exercise and makes it more fun. I like the fact it’s very upbeat and we even get glow sticks, not only that but I did it in big, puffy , bright pink trousers that I had been given from my school project for house arts.  If you would like to see more of what Clubbercise is like my mum has made a Vlog

On Saturday we went to the local fire station and Freddie loved it he is obsessed with anything to do with firemen and fire engines, after that we went to Carding Mill Valley with some family friends. It was really fun and we went into the little stream there. The boys were using the rocks to try to create a dam and even Freddie had a turn of paddling in the stream. My mum also vlogged our trips to the fire station and Carding Mill.

In school I have had my art exam and I got a 3+. It was the top score in my class and I was really proud of my drawing. It was a drawing of cutlery and I used the techniques I had been taught in lessons. It was a pencil drawing.

My class went on a trip to Wroxeter Roman City and I forgot to get a letter so I couldn’t go as I didn’t tell my parents until the day before everybody was due to go. It was too late. Instead I stayed in school and took part in normal lessons. I even had to hang around with Harry at break because all of my friends were on the trip.

That’s it from me today, catch me next week!

If you missed Ellie’s take over last week you can catch her post and Harry’s posts on the links below.

Ellie’s Friday Takeover

Hello people,

I’m Ellie-Jayne and this is my section of the blog (whoop!) I’m going to be telling you about my week and all them thingmabobs Well this week has been good. I have been very busy this week as i was in a big thing in school called house arts with drama, choir, dance and a little video production. It’s all of the houses (things that divide the school onto four) against each other. I was in drama, video and choir even though i cant sing for the life of me.

Our theme this year was the lion king and I was the female version of Rafiki playing Tiki. We put a lot of effort in and I was told I will get a bigger part next year. This year was good though and my house won! Yay!

Also this week the whole family went on a Gruffalo trail where we basically went around following clues trying to find the Gruffalo. It’s an amazing place to go and I don’t want to ruin too much in case you want to go yourself but if you would like to know more you can check out my mum’s review or watch her Vlog.

Other than that I’ve been doing a lot of drawing for my art account on Instagram Ellie_with_a_pen.

That’s it from me, don’t forget to look out for me next Friday!

An Interview with a preteen girl, how do they really feel?

We all know teenagers are moody, stroppy , collect a hundred cups in their bedrooms.  The get greasy, smelly and have amazing attitudes where they think they can take on the world.  I thought it would be nice to get a preteens view of life. Not only can it help us parents to understand this strange species with a mop of greasy hair, but would also give a preteen the chance to speak out. 92% in a History Exam!

I promised when I started this blog that I would be sharing the highs and the lows and today is a massive high! I want to celebrate my daughters exam result.

When it comes to the kids education I try my best to make sure that they don’t make the same mistakes I make, and I drill into them that no matter what hurdles they come across if they keep their heads down. it will all be worthwhile and they will be successful in the long run.
