Bee Bee Beeswax Wraps – Organic Clingfilm Alternative – Review

I have seen a few people mention using wraps for their food instead of the ever annoying cling film and I’m not going to lie I was curious! When Bee Bee wraps asked me if I’d like to try them of course I said yes!

What are Bee Bee wraps?

Bee Bee Beeswax wraps are a great alternative to cling film. If you’re like me you start a roll of cling film off well , halfway through you develop a magical split in it where you’re unravelling it and just making more of a mess of it. You end up with half a tube that’s just absolutely useless and you can’t actually use.

Bee Bee beeswax wraps are made from organic cotton, beeswax, tree resin and organic jojoba oil, all of which will break down on your compost heap and return to nature. Meaning that they are very good for the environment.

But do they actually work?

I’m not going to lie I thought when reading about these I straight away thought but surely they won’t stay on the food or stick properly? I originally was going to use these for Christmas but curiosity got the better of me and I had to try them out.

Off I popped to my local supermarket to by some things to make sandwiches and when I returned home I got out my Bee Bee wraps. Well I can tell you now that I am a complete convert!

I popped the sandwich in the wrap and folded it over to cover it. Straight away the wrap stayed where I placed it and covered every ounce of the sandwich. It’s kind of like wrapping a Christmas present , I had cut my sandwiches into triangles so had to figure out how to wrap around it but as soon as I thought about how I would wrap a gift of this shape it was easy enough. Bee Bee have a great page which shows you how to use them and take care of them here.

Next I wanted to try it out on some cheese that I had opened. I mean the sandwich could have been a fluke right? But no, using the same wrap as I had used to cover the sandwich, I popped the open packet of cheese inside. This was very easy to wrap and stayed wherever I placed it.

My next challenge for the wrap was something half-opened. In this case it was a packet of ham. I had only pulled the covering from it halfway back so only needed to cover that part of it. Would the wrap hold without clinging to itself? Yes! It had no problems at all!

Overall thoughts and feelings

I am a really fussy person when it comes to food and making sure that everything stays fresh. For someone like me to test out wraps like these I can tell you I wasn’t confident that they would be good.

However after testing these out for myself I absolutely love them and will definitely use them more in the future. I love the fact they come in so many different patterns and sizes which is a lovely change from the see through cling film wrap. It makes your lunch look a little prettier.

I was also worried that maybe you would taste the wax on your food but again my fears were not needed at all. The only thing I could taste was the flavours of the items I had wrapped.

I love the fact they’re reusable , you literally give them a wash and they’re ready to use again. Could this be the future, where cling film becomes a thing of the past?

I think so, give them a try I think you’ll be impressed especially when it comes to making packed lunches for school / work

** I was given a pack of 3 Bee Bee Beeswax wraps in exchange for an honest and open review. All thoughts and feelings are my own.
