This year in the run up to Christmas and for #Blogmas . I have decided to Interview other bloggers and find out what Christmas was like for them growing up and how they do their own Christmas’s now. Every day in December will see a new blogger and new traditions and Christmas excitement. Today we have the lovely Chantelle From All Things Christmas
1. What is your name?
Chantelle Joy Otto
Do you have children if so how many & what are their ages?
One daughter named Lydia age 5
Tell me a little bit about your blog.
I took over running All Things Christmas in 2017 after being a member of their online community for 10 years. I am simply obsessed with Christmas and want to create the best website on the internet to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. I focus a lot on family and traditions – crafts, food, movies and all the best ways to celebrate Christmas.
2. As you was growing up did you have any Christmas traditions in your house?
We had so many. Always opening a single gift (usually socks) on Christmas Eve. Going to my Grandmother’s house for Christmas. And listening to the Santa Tracking radio programs (that makes me sound really old, but this was the 80s)
3. What is your favourite Christmas memory?
Watching my brother open his Christmas gifts was always fun for me, he got SO EXCITED for every single present. It’s very similar now with my daughter – sharing Christmas with her is so wonderful.
4. Did you ever ask Santa for something that you never got?
No, but a similar experience where Santa saved the day. My birthday is in late-november and one year I wanted a Little Miss Mermaid doll SO BADLY. But for my birthday my mother got me a Tapsy (as an adult and seeing these two side by side for the first time ever, I realize how easily the mistake was made) thankfully – Santa corrected this error, and I got my mermaid doll for Christmas.
5. Have you ever had any Xmas disasters?
Only a few years ago – we tried to deep-fry our turkey for the first time – and it came out crispy and golden on the outside, and raw inside. Yikes.
6. How do you usually spend Xmas eve?
Christmas eve is when we have our big dinner, we spend all day listening to Christmas Music, maybe finish wrapping some presents – and then have our big dinner with Family. A movie in the evening before bed.
7. Do you have magic elves that visit? What kind of things do they get up to?
We do not have any magic elves – we do have a Fairy Door that elves could visit through, sometimes leave little gifts near the door. But no elves themselves.
8. Do you have any of your own Xmas traditions? Things that you HAVE to do on Xmas day?
Honestly, because we always had family over – my Husband and I ALWAYS used to go to the movies on Christmas Day. However, since moving to the UK (and finding out that movie cinemas are closed on Christmas Day) – so now we’ve switched to going to Boxing Day.
9. Do you eat breakfast on Xmas day and if so what kind of breakfast do you usually have?
I always cook a big home-cooked breakfast. French Toast, Bacon and Mimosas usually.
10. If you could have one thing this Xmas and it could be anything in the world what would it be?
I would love to have a Big Family Christmas with all of my best friends and family in a big fancy hotel in New York – like the end of Home Alone 2.
