Freddie is now a big boy 3!! And I want my baby back!

On Thursday my youngest little man turned a big boy 3! It’s crazy to think how fast it has gone. I’m pretty sure it was only yesterday I found out I was pregnant with him yet here he is all grown up.

The night before his birthday we had to call the out of hours docs as he wasn’t very well, they diagnosed him with croup so he has spent the majority of the last few days a poorly bunny.

It’s so completely crazy to think come September he will be in proper nursery like a big boy, He loves going to ‘school’ and they have placed him in one of the bigger rooms for September. Hopefully he will settle in OK. You see Freddie isn’t the most sociable of children. He is very independent and knows what he likes and dislikes. He isn’t afraid to tell you if there is something he doesn’t want to do ( remind you of anyone?)

What did he get?

He is completely and utterly firemen obsessed so he had a lot of firemen/ fire engine related toys. Including dressing up clothes, puzzles and fire engines.  I decided to get him a bit of art and crafts as he doesn’t generally do much arty stuff. He’s never really been interested in it unlike his brother and sister who were art and craft obsessed.

Freddie absolutely LOVES to pretend that he is rescuing somebody and his imagination is incredible. He has such an amazing bright personality, recently we found a video Annabelle had recorded on our phones and in it Freddie jumps up and takes over, it’s so cute to watch you should check it out!

Whatever you do don’t blink!

In a flash your cute baby will be all grown up and independent. Enjoy every second of the night feeds and cuddles because they don’t last forever. I remember wishing my baby would just sleep and now I long for the days where I could cuddle and rock him to bed without him being a “big boy now”

The Kids Take Over – Annabelle – Week 2

Each week I am handing over my blog to the kids to have their say and let you know whats going on with them. I have told them they can be completely honest and if I have annoyed them or if something has upset them then to just go for it and type how they feel. I figured this way you guys can get to know their personalities and more about who they are as each one of them is completely different. You will notice that there isn’t an Annabelle Week 1, that’s because the little monkey started writing it then gave up and forgot! haha

Annabelle week 2

Sorry I haven’t done my blog takeover last week but I have a lot to say now.
Last week we went to Shropshire fire station, Freddie was the most excited boy on earth. He got a fireman Sam activity sheet and got to do a bit of colouring in. I got a sheet but that was different it had word searches, crosswords and more.
After we went to Carding Mill valley and made massive splashes in a stream and had a lot of fun. We saw our friends Khloe, Izzy , Anna and Dion. Khloe Izzy and Dion went in the stream with us. I had a lot of fun with them especially Khloe.  Mums friend Anna gave us snacks like chocolate covered cornflakes and brownies.
The other day we went to a Gruffalo Trail and I was really excited.  We found the mouse first, then we found the fox, it was a bit harder. We followed the clues to find the snake. Also we found the owl and I was really excited when we found the Gruffalo.
Freddie’s birthday was very fun, he had tools😕  as in plastic tools I bet you thought I meant real ones didn’t you but he’s only 3.
That is my blog takeover at last  I hope you enjoy
Thank you Annabelle ( at last ) If you’ve enjoyed reading about Annabelle’s week don’t forget you can find her posts every Sunday.
On a Wednesday you will find posts from Harry
and on a Friday you will find Ellie’s posts

The Kids Take Over – Ellie – Week 2

Ellie week 2

Hello again people!

I’ve done quite a lot this week. First of all I went to Clubbercise and it was EXTREMELY hot. I like going to Clubbercise it disguises that you’re doing exercise and makes it more fun. I like the fact it’s very upbeat and we even get glow sticks, not only that but I did it in big, puffy , bright pink trousers that I had been given from my school project for house arts.  If you would like to see more of what Clubbercise is like my mum has made a Vlog

On Saturday we went to the local fire station and Freddie loved it he is obsessed with anything to do with firemen and fire engines, after that we went to Carding Mill Valley with some family friends. It was really fun and we went into the little stream there. The boys were using the rocks to try to create a dam and even Freddie had a turn of paddling in the stream. My mum also vlogged our trips to the fire station and Carding Mill.

In school I have had my art exam and I got a 3+. It was the top score in my class and I was really proud of my drawing. It was a drawing of cutlery and I used the techniques I had been taught in lessons. It was a pencil drawing.

My class went on a trip to Wroxeter Roman City and I forgot to get a letter so I couldn’t go as I didn’t tell my parents until the day before everybody was due to go. It was too late. Instead I stayed in school and took part in normal lessons. I even had to hang around with Harry at break because all of my friends were on the trip.

That’s it from me today, catch me next week!

12 Life Hacks that will enrich the way you live your life

*Picture taken from google

I am a member of a mothers group on Facebook based in our local area, In fact I created the group and grew it but then passed it onto my friends to continue with as I simply didn’t have the time to put in it anymore. Anyway they were talking the other day about what life hacks they used and I was surprised to see that a lot of them use scissors to cut up pizza! Even now I’m a bit stumped as to how that doesn’t get messy but hey it seems to work for so many I think I must me missing a trick.

From this I decided to ask my favourite bloggers if they had any life hacks that they use and they came up with some crackers, some of which are just pure genius so I thought I would share with you what they had to say.

  1. A few drops of essential oils onto a cotton wool ball put on your radiator will save you a fortune on air fresheners and plug-ins says Jen from Just Average Jen

    * Picture taken from google
  2.  Placing a hook on the back of your high chair creates an excellent place for storing your bibs, this way they are easier to access and saves hunting round for them says Claire from The Happy Weaner.

    * Picture taken from google
  3.  Victoria from Lylia Rose says ” Baby wipes can be used for so much more than just babies bottoms” She has written her own post of 10 alternative uses for baby wipes
  4. Jess from Tantrums To Smiles says “Named storage boxes by the door where kids can dump all their stuff especially once they are at school or nursery etc. It means you always know where book bags, important letters will be. I then replace book bags, PE kits etc in to their own box so they can just grab it in the morning and go without having to hunt for things 1 minute before the school run”
  5.  When doing the food shop I put all the bags in the trolley and shop by “category” frozen/fridge/meat/fruit and veg/ etc. Then you always know you have enough bags, and it’s really easy to pack/unpack on the conveyor belt and once home.  says Zoe from Lycra Widow.
  6.  Kerry from Blissful Domestication says “Clothes pegs when you’re putting on duvet covers. Put duvet into the corners, pop clothes pegs on. It’s as good as having a second pair of hands!”
  7.  Kate from Five Little Stars came up with some brilliant ideas for white vinegar. she uses it to clean the house, Instead of fabric softener and to descale the kettle.
    * Picture taken from google

  8.  Beth from Twinderelmo also agrees with the baby wipes theory and uses them for everything from shoes to the kitchen side.
  9. Straws to de-stalk strawberries, scissors to cut up cooking bacon, pizza cutter for slicing pancakes for kids are the hacks that Claire from Big Family, Big Fun.
  10. If you cut your avocado while in the skin, then you only need to turn it inside out for perfect cubes says Emily from  Confessions Of A Slummy Mummy.

    * Picture supplied by Emily
  11.  Renee from Close Enough to Kiss says “Put your duvet covers on inside out, line the corners yup then peel the sheet to the opposite end. Saves the faffing and climbing inside! Works with pillows too!”
  12.   I use my microwave as a bread bin to make my worktops clutter free says Rebecca from Kizmet Cava.

So as you can see there are many life hacks to make our lives easier, do you have one? If so leave me a comment so I can try them out 🙂

Thanks for reading and thank you to all of my beautiful bloggers for sharing with us.

Frankie & Benny’s Breakfast visit and review

As some of you will know I’m currently on a health kick but I decided that due to me working so hard that I deserved a treat so today we decided to have our breakfast at Frankie & Benny’s

Our experience

We walked into the restaurant with Beth in the car seat as she had fallen asleep in the car and we didn’t want to wake her. We were greeted within seconds by a very well presented man, he looked clean and tidy and was very pleasant and well-mannered. As we were shown to our seats he noticed that we had Beth asleep in her car seat and offered to help move the tables so that she could be seated on the bench with the table in the way to stop her falling. I thought this was a very thoughtful gesture. Most restaurants leave you to place a baby in a car seat on the floor but this kind man had made it so that it was comfortable and safe for her to be at the same level as us. He asked us if we wanted drinks before leaving us to look at the menu that he had neatly places in front of us.

Within minutes our drinks were served, both myself and Gareth chose the orange juice and it was served to us in a large glass with ice and a straw. Perfect, I mean who doesn’t love ice-cold orange juice right?. Then we were asked what we would like to eat. I loved the fact the menu had so many options,  If you wanted something lighter you could or if you were mega hungry you could choose a giant breakfast. I went for the eggs Benedict whilst Gareth opted for the Traditional breakfast. We were asked if we would like some sides to go with it and we chose hash browns and toast so that Beth could have some. By this point she had woken up.

The food

The food arrived quickly on clean plates, well presented and looked beautifully cooked. Exactly what you would expect when visiting somewhere to eat. After we’d had our food for a short while the waitress returned to ask us if everything was OK with our meals before leaving us to enjoy our food.

My eggs Benedict was delicious, the eggs were cooked to perfection ( none of that snotty undercooked egg white stuff) and everything else was great although I did think my sauce may have split a little but I ate it anyway, I gave my bacon ( you are given a choice of bacon or ham) to Gareth as it was streaky I think so had a little bit too much fat on it for my liking. This wasn’t their fault though and purely mine for being so fussy.

Gareth said his breakfast was very greasy which was a shame as he thought the staff and service was excellent. The food just let it down for him a little bit.

Overall thoughts

The staff at Frankie and Benny’s were very polite, helpful and they were all dressed clean and well presented. The restaurant itself was very clean and tidy. Our cutlery was perfectly clean as was the table. My food was delicious however Gareth felt his was very greasy. All in all we found it a lovely experience and in fact we noticed a good offer on as we were walking in there for the kids so think we may return and take everyone. I can’t fault the service we were given, even down to collecting the bill, we kind of rushed them as Beth had started getting unsettled and we didn’t want to disturb anyone else. They immediately stopped what they were doing to come and help us. We would definitely recommend it as the small things that we didn’t like could just be because we are fussy rather than the restaurants fault. It was a relaxing , pleasant experience.

The Kids Take Over – Harry – Week 2

Each week I am handing over my blog to the kids to have their say and let you know whats going on with them. I figured this way you guys can get to know their personalities and more about who they are as each one of them is completely different.

Harry week 2

Hey guys welcome to week 2 of my blog takeover.

This post I will be talking all about my week. This week has been quite crazy. The main event this week was on Saturday. This Saturday me and my family went out for the day. We went to the Shropshire Fire Station and Carding Mill Valley. This was so much fun. You can check out all about that on my YouTube channel ( Harry Hopkins tech advice and more.)

This week has also had some bad points. One example of this is school. At school i have been given a world war 2 project to do. This project was to do a presentation on WW2. I put over 48 hours of my time into this presentation. This may sound like it’s not that bad but i have been waiting for 3 weeks to showcase it. This is 3 weeks after the due date and one and a half weeks till the end of the academic year. This really bothers me and i have said i am not leaving my school until I have showcased it. That’s all i have for you guys today but come back next Wednesday if you want to hear more about my life.

Thanks Harry, I’m sure you will get to do your project, you’ve worked hard enough on it.

I now have a level 3 in Wedding Planning and can think about a business!

You may remember a while ago I told you all that I was offered an opportunity to take part in a course with NCC Home Learning. After searching through their hundreds of courses I decided the best one for me would be to do a wedding planner course.

Well I am now updating you to say that I have done it!! I am now a level 3 qualified Wedding Planner and I am incredibly excited about what the future will hold. I am so excited that now I have a platform to really get myself a career, not only will I have a career but it will be something that I truly enjoy. I have always loved throwing parties or putting things on for special occasions and now I have the opportunity to do it as not only a job but also a business and one that I hope will grow and become successful

I was unwell yesterday and had to cancel my plans so figured it would be the perfect time to finish the course and try to cheer myself up by passing the exam.  You can read about my illness and how it an flare up here.

The Course

The course itself was very easy to follow, you are sent your log in details and then you can work through it all at your own pace. This particular course involved a lot of reading and taking in certain details so it was quite easy to find the time to work my way through the modules. Gareth even commented how quickly I was getting through them but I don’t think he realised that I was reading a module here and there whilst working on my blog.

Personally I would have loved there to be more practical things to do that I had to send off to be marked and gain feedback on. Maybe book a mock wedding with a mock couple and go through all the different scenarios. However I did find the course incredibly interesting and didn’t realise how many of the little things I didn’t actually know. For example did you know that the cake is supposed to be cut between the main and the dessert and then handed out to guests with teas/coffees at the end of the meal and the rest cut up and put on a plate for the reception guests? Nope neither did I!

Where will I go from here?

Having this new qualification is going to open up some incredible doors for me and I fully intend on making the most of my new knowledge. All my life I have tried to have a career of some sort. I have looked into several options and it has never quite worked out. I did do incredibly well in catering but then I had my children and my career got lost also I found working in restaurants very hard work for very little in return. Not great wages and a lot of stress. Now don’t get me wrong I am very good at handling stress, I have 5 children for a start so stress is something that can come quite often but I like to know that my hard work has been appreciated and often in the catering industry there isn’t a great deal of appreciation. Saying that I was extremely good at what I did (even if I do say so myself)

Exciting news already!!!

Gareth knows somebody who actually owns his own events company and has asked him if I can shadow him on a few events to get a feel for things and so I can pick up any hints or tips before I start to set up my own business and amazingly he was more than happy to help so I will be joining him at a wedding and at a couple of wedding fayres which is fantastic and so exciting!

My plans for the future involve spending the next 6 – 8 months building up a portfolio and really learning the ins and outs of the wedding industry, approaching venues and asking them if I can voluntarily do work for them to gain the experience from all angles.

If you are a hotel or wedding venue or anything at all to do with the planning of weddings and would like to help me to gain some experience by letting me shadow you or even do some voluntary work for you then please do get in touch or via my work with us page and I will be very grateful for the insight and experience.

Thank you NCC Home LEarning

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me this opportunity and also creating a new passion inside of me and a doorway to being the creative person that I am.

I failed the exam the first time due to not really taking in all of the information properly but by failing it made me really pay attention and take in the right information so I think it was a good thing.

I would highly recommend a course with NCC , it is excellent, In fact I am considering doing another event management course to further my exciting upcoming business.

Thank you for reading

  • NCC Home learning gave me the opportunity to take part in a course of my choosing in exchange for an honest review. all thoughts and feelings about the course are completely my own.

Ellie’s Friday Takeover

Hello people,

I’m Ellie-Jayne and this is my section of the blog (whoop!) I’m going to be telling you about my week and all them thingmabobs Well this week has been good. I have been very busy this week as i was in a big thing in school called house arts with drama, choir, dance and a little video production. It’s all of the houses (things that divide the school onto four) against each other. I was in drama, video and choir even though i cant sing for the life of me.

Our theme this year was the lion king and I was the female version of Rafiki playing Tiki. We put a lot of effort in and I was told I will get a bigger part next year. This year was good though and my house won! Yay!

Also this week the whole family went on a Gruffalo trail where we basically went around following clues trying to find the Gruffalo. It’s an amazing place to go and I don’t want to ruin too much in case you want to go yourself but if you would like to know more you can check out my mum’s review or watch her Vlog.

Other than that I’ve been doing a lot of drawing for my art account on Instagram Ellie_with_a_pen.

That’s it from me, don’t forget to look out for me next Friday!

The Gruffalo Spotters Trail – Haughmond Hill – Day out with the kids review

We had asked on Facebook for idea’s of places to go for an after school picnic that wasn’t too far from home as we only had a couple of hours spare to go in. Loads of ideas were thrown up and one that particularly stood out was a Gruffalo Spotter Trail in Haughmond Hill which is just by Shrewsbury.

There is parking at the start of the trail but rather than 1 big car park there are a few smaller car parks going around some trees. The car park is pay and display and costs just £1 for up to 2 hours.  We parked right next to some picnic tables and a picnic area but chose to get the full picnic effect by lying a blanket on the floor.

The trial

The trail itself is FREE , you are able to buy activity packs for just £3, However due to us not getting there until 4pm we were unable to purchase one as the cafe shuts at 3:30pm , we found this quite disappointing especially when the trail itself is open until 8:30pm. Luckily we had taken our own picnic and drinks but had we have wanted to buy a cold drink on a hot day the option wouldn’t have been there. Most children finish school about 3pm so I would have thought with it being aimed at small children maybe something would have been open.

There is an app that goes alongside the trail but we were unable to get a good enough signal while we were there to download it. We decided that we would still do the trail and see what we could find despite not having the activity pack or app.

Searching for clues

Annabelle who is 7 really enjoyed looking for the clues

It was one of those parenting moments when I looked at her and thought she’s still just a little girl. She genuinely loved every part of it and reciting the book so that we knew which animals too look out for. Before we found each animal there were clues to find, then we tried to guess which animal was coming next by those clues.

I thought this was a fantastic idea and Freddie really learnt from it, being about to turn 3 the world is still very new to him and he learnt about a mouse, a fox, an owl and a snake before finding the Gruffalo itself.

We did find it very sad when we got to one of the clues to find that vandals had destroyed it, not only had they destroyed the actual clue but we also found the temporary one on the floor.

Our Experience

Despite not being able to fully use the trail to its full potential we really enjoyed it. It says on the website that it is aimed at very small children yet we all thoroughly enjoyed it as a family and I would say that Annabelle probably enjoyed it the most, In fact we enjoyed it so much we are going to go back again during the day so we can do the whole thing properly. I would definitely recommend it.  oh yes and I almost forgot we found the Gruffalo!!

If the kids are under your feet and you’re looking for somewhere fun, educational and very cheap ( we literally paid a pound for the car park and have a fantastic time) Then a Gruffalo Trail is for you!

I actually Vlogged our experience and you can find it over on YouTube , please feel free to subscribe whilst you’re over there and if you enjoy the Vlog give me a little thumbs up I would really appreciate it.

We had a fantastic time at the Gruffalo Trail why don’t you visit one too! There are over 26 different sites so there may be one near to you 🙂

Harry’s Wednesday Takeover!

Hello everyone, Let me start off by saying my name is Harry. You probably know me as the oldest child of the miracle clan. I am going to be using my weekly take over to let you guys know more about me and my life.

Here’s my story

I was born in a Welsh hospital and lived in Wales for about 4 years of my life. I used to love it there. Yes, I was only small but whenever I go to Wales I always think “I’m home again!”

Years after I moved away from Wales I went back to visit my Nan and Grandad for a few days with my Mum, Dad and sister Ellie. After we had visited for a few days it was time to go back home. The problem was I wasn’t ready to leave so my Nan, Grandad, Mum and Dad arranged for me to be able to stay there for an extra 10 days whilst the rest of the family went home.

This meant is was just me, my Nan and my Grandad. Over the 10 days we did lots of fun things. I have two specific memories I thought would be fun to share. In the 10 day period a team of builders were working outside on a drain. I used to sit there for hours watching the builders in this drain. I have no idea why I enjoyed it so much. There was this one builder who noticed I was there every day and one day he came to me and gave me a hat and headphones so I wouldn’t get hurt whilst watching.

The other memory I was to share is kinda strange. During the 10 days I was there me, my Nan and Grandad decided to have a picnic on the top of this hill next to my nans house. I used to call it broccoli hill. This was because all of the trees looked like pieces of broccoli. When we got to broccoli hill we met another family. There was a small boy named Harry and he was on a picnic with his Nan and Grandad, this freaked me out.

I want you to know more

Now you all know a bit about my past life I want you all to know more about me now. I am a 13-year-old boy who lives in a family of 7 people. I am a Youtuber with 40 subscribers. I just try to make the best out of any situation. I have a hamster called Fandango and love all of my family and friends.

Thank you for reading this blog post I hope you enjoyed reading it. I will be writing another on 12th July and that will be about my week and not my life. Feel free to check out my YouTube Channel Harry Hopkins Tech advise and more and maybe subscribe whilst you’re there. I also want to say thank you to Mummy Of 5 Miracles for the chance to do a weekly guest blog on her blog.

Thank you Harry , great first post 🙂
